Phlebotomy
Our Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to prepare students to enter the healthcare workforce as a phlebotomist. The program focuses on skill development in blood collection methods using proper techniques and universal precautions. It includes vacuum collection devices, syringes, capillary skin puncture, butterfly needles, blood culture and specimen collection. In an effort to prepare students for the workforce, the class will have the opportunity to practice blood collection on each other and volunteers prior to the end of this course.
Completion of the registration form and payment does NOT complete your enrollment into the Phlebotomy program. To complete your enrollment into the program students are required to submit a copy of their:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Verification of having received 2 of the 3 Hepatitis B Shot Series
- Negative TB Skin Test (within 6 months)
- Proof of Health Care Provider - Basic Life Support CPR
- Complete a valid Health Care Provider CPR Course
These documents can be uploaded through the Xendirect registration account portal or emailed to workforcetraining@lit.edu
- This course will be a face-to-face class that meets twice a week.
- The required textbook for this course is the Phlebotomy Technician Textbook and can be purchased from the publisher, Amazon, Ebay, where-ever books are sold.
- Blue scrubs are preferred but not required for this class. Please wear comfortable closed toe shoes while in the lab.
